Integrating SPC Data Collection Directly From Your 2D Print

Join High QA for the 3rd in a series of free Webinars on Quality 4.0 the Next Generation Technology. Each hour-long webinar is designed to get you closer to meeting Quality 4.0 requirements and goals.

This episode of Are Your Ready for Quality 4.0 webinars discusses the benefits integrating SPC data collection from your 2d print to improve quality and reduce waste.

OEM’s and even your own company are requiring SPC data collection from the manufacturing process. The data is reported in AS9102, FAI, PPAP or other reporting form. Collecting inspection data from various digital measuring tools and gauges automatically or manually providing a lot of information that can be turned into useful SPC data.

The first step along this journey is to identify the dimensions for inspection and the frequency of the checks.

This webinar will review the benefits of early integration of SPC requirements from the 2d print at the start of the automated ballooning process.

High QA Demonstrates Inspection Manager™ Quality Management Software at WESTEC 2019 – Booth 1357

See us at WESTEC September 24-26 - Long Beach CA

Keyport, NJ (USA) – July 2019 – High QA will demonstrate its Inspection Manager™ Quality Management Software at WESTEC 2019 September 24 – 26 at Long Beach Convention Center, CA. Hallmarks of Inspection Manager include its one-click architecture to automatically extract GD&T requirements from 2D drawings and 3D models, digitizes the prints with automatic ballooning, creates inspection plan reports, stores all the information and measurement tools in a centralized database, and so much more.

“Inspection Manager makes the move towards Quality 4.0, which is an integral aspect of Industry 4.0, practical for many manufacturers,” said Sam Golan, High QA’s CEO and Founder. “The time-savings alone is astounding because a large percentage of manufacturers are still marking their 2D parts prints up with paper and pencils to extract the quality parameters of the job. The centralized database is also extremely helpful for users so they can aggregate useful inspection information data to make better process decisions from one integrated and complete source. It’s quite a comprehensive package of quality management functions – automated, usable, and accessible.”

WESTEC attendees will be among the first to see demonstrations about Inspection Manager’s newest features surrounding manufacturing operations, bulk updating, assemblies, job lifecycles, materials management, and handling non-conformance issues and processes. “One of the most exciting additions is the ability to now support ballooning of welding dimensions directly inside Inspection Manager using our intuitive ballooning interface,” said Mr. Golan.

Other features and benefits that High QA customers find most helpful include the ability to work in Dual Units – metric or English – and convert those with just one click. The chosen unit is the one that propagates through to the ballooned PDF and the final reports generated, such as AS9102 FAI Forms 1 and 2. Users can store unlimited design revisions with the original and converted units.

An integrated SPC module within Inspection Manager allows users in real time to monitor variations in the manufacturing process during the inspection process. The inspection results can be captured automatically from a wide range of metrology tools. Manual data can be collected on the shop-floor and added in real time using a tablet-based application for Inspection Manager, IM Explorer™ and IM eXpress™. All of the metrology tools, systems, and certificates can also be stored and managed in Inspection Manager’s centralized database and can alert the customer when calibrations are due and when certs need to be updated.

"My Shop" is Part of a Complex Supply Chain

... and this can be very rewarding

Having a small, medium or large shop, we always think of it as “my shop”, probably not a surprise that this is what interests us the most. Bidding on a job and being awarded with a purchase order is great news but it is also associated with some concerns; did I correctly estimate the part cost? Can I deliver it on time and with the expected quality?

All these concerns (and of course there are more) grow exponentially at the OEM\buyer level where hundreds, sometime thousands of parts are getting to the assembly line. Besides trying efficiently to manage the supply chain, an OEM\buyer will probably “cross their fingers” while getting the product assembled.

Our shop is “our world” but in most cases our shop is not just that, it is also a part of a much bigger picture. Our shop is a component of a complex supply chain with multiple tiers, different manufacturing “cultures” and often we collaborate with outsourced facilities in a different continents. As a supply chain member, we need to focus on quality, delivery, and efficiencies (cost and competitiveness) to continue being awarded with more projects.

The great news for the suppliers, is that “outsourcing” for the manufacturing market is growing every year.  New OEMs and Buyers are getting into the market. The traditional OEMs like automotive, aerospace, oil & gas, and medical are growing with new models and with new products. Just think about the traditional car made of 40,000 parts, where the autonomous car is expected to reach almost double of this number. The B-737 airplane is made of 367,000 parts where the B-787 airplane is made of 2.3 million parts.

With all this great news, suppliers need to adjust to an aggressive and competitive industry with growing requirements for smaller, smarter and cheaper parts, as well as being able to address handling new materials. The list for “ready” suppliers is long but the market is highly promising and will award those poised for growth!

Thank you,

Sam Golan,

Founder & Chairman
