Moldes Mendoza Turns Quality into a Growth Engine with High QA
How a third-generation mold manufacturer connected quality across the shop floor, reduced validation time by more than two-thirds, and created a new revenue stream representing up to 20% of its business
For Moldes Mendoza, quality has never been something checked at the end of production. It has been part of the company’s identity since its founding in Mexico in 1972.
What began as a small family machine shop grew into a global mold manufacturer serving customers across North America, Central America, South America, China, and beyond. Today, Moldes Mendoza designs and manufactures complex plastic injection molds for industries including automotive, consumer products, food and beverage, closures, dispensing, and cosmetics.
As the company grew, however, so did the complexity of managing inspection requirements, production data, tolerances, and quality records across hundreds of active drawings and thousands of characteristics.
High QA helped Moldes Mendoza transform that complexity into a connected, real-time quality process, giving operators clearer guidance, helping teams catch issues earlier, accelerating tool validation, and creating the capacity to launch an entirely new service offering.
The Challenge: Managing Quality Across Hundreds of Active Drawings
The Challenge: Managing Quality Across Hundreds of Active Drawings
A single Moldes Mendoza mold may include approximately 120 components, and the company releases roughly one mold every three weeks. At any given time, that can mean approximately 360 active drawings moving through production.
Each drawing may call for multiple parts, and every part can contain numerous critical dimensions and tolerance requirements. Operators were responsible for interpreting drawings, calculating acceptable tolerance ranges, recording measurements, and determining whether each result was in or out of specification.
The process relied on a mix of paper, spreadsheets, PDFs, and disconnected quality tools. While each method provided some value, none gave Moldes Mendoza a complete system for managing quality information, monitoring progress, or creating visibility across the entire manufacturing process.
The result was a labor-intensive process that made it difficult to:
- Track whether every required inspection had been completed
- Maintain consistent results across operators and machines
- Give production teams immediate feedback
- Identify missing or incomplete components before assembly
- Centralize quality records and reporting
- Scale operations without adding unnecessary overhead
Quality had become a bottleneck rather than a tool for growth.
“Taking care of all that on paper or in Excel sheets was not the way to do it. It was very challenging, and it kept us from growing as fast as we wanted.”
Antonio Mendoza, Owner, Moldes Mendoza
The Solution: A Connected Quality Process from Design Through Production
Moldes Mendoza selected High QA because it could bring previously disconnected quality activities into one database-driven platform.
The company saw value across every department.
Design teams could automatically balloon drawings, review inspection characteristics, and identify over-toleranced dimensions before they reached production.
Manufacturing teams no longer needed to manually calculate acceptance ranges. Operators could clearly see the required nominal values and tolerances and receive immediate notification when a measurement began moving in the wrong direction.
Quality teams gained centralized inspection data, automated reporting, and significantly greater visibility into production status.
Assembly teams could verify whether every component was complete and approved before beginning final mold assembly.
This connected approach helped Moldes Mendoza move quality from a final inspection activity to an active part of production.
“You do not make a high-quality part at the end of manufacturing. You make a good part by making a good part at every station.”
Antonio Mendoza, Owner, Moldes Mendoza
Building Team-Wide Adoption
Moldes Mendoza approached implementation by showing each department how the platform would improve its daily work.
Rather than positioning automation as a replacement for employees, leadership focused on how it could reduce repetitive work, improve decision-making, and create capacity for growth.
The benefits were clear across the organization:
- Design: Faster drawing ballooning and earlier review of dimensional requirements
- Production: Clear acceptance ranges without manual calculations
- Quality: Reduced workload and centralized inspection information
- Assembly: Immediate visibility into part completion and approval status
- Leadership: Real-time insight into production and quality performance
According to Mendoza, the quality team expected its workload to decrease by more than 60%, allowing employees to focus on higher-value activities rather than manual documentation and repetitive inspection administrationThe Results
Tool Validation in Less Than One-Third of the Time
By centralizing measurement data and automating reporting, Moldes Mendoza reduced the time required to validate completed tools to less than one-third of its previous process.
Customers now receive comprehensive inspection and statistical reports much faster, helping accelerate acceptance and delivery.
A New Business Representing 15–20% of Revenue
The additional capacity created within the quality department allowed Moldes Mendoza to launch a new service focused on tool qualification, First Article Inspection, Cpk, Ppk, and statistical process reporting.
The company now completes approximately 10 to 15 of these projects each month. According to Mendoza, the service has grown to represent approximately 15–20% of the company’s overall business.
Faster Access to Critical Part Data
When customers need to repair or reproduce a mold component, Moldes Mendoza can retrieve and provide the actual dimensional data for that part in approximately 30 seconds.
That responsiveness gives customers confidence that Moldes Mendoza can support them throughout the full lifecycle of a tool—not only during initial delivery.
Earlier Issue Detection
High QA gives teams immediate visibility when a measurement is out of tolerance, allowing Moldes Mendoza to investigate and respond before the issue affects final assembly or delivery.
Instead of discovering problems at the end of production, the company can take corrective action while work is still in process and communicate proactively with customers when necessary.
Greater Customer Confidence
The ability to demonstrate complete control over inspection, traceability, and production data has become a competitive advantage.
Customers can see that Moldes Mendoza has the systems in place to deliver parts to specification, provide detailed quality records, and respond quickly when information is needed.
That confidence has helped the company win new work and strengthen relationships with existing customers.
“When customers see the level of control we have, it gives them confidence that we will deliver what we promise. That confidence brings us more work.”
Antonio Mendoza, Owner, Moldes Mendoza
From Quality Control to Business Growth
For Moldes Mendoza, High QA delivered more than efficiency improvements.
It helped the company create a connected quality process that supports better decisions, stronger customer relationships, faster validation, and new revenue opportunities.
Quality is no longer concentrated at the end of production. It is built into every stage—from design and machining through inspection, assembly, qualification, and delivery.
The result is a scalable foundation that allows Moldes Mendoza to grow without sacrificing the standards that have defined the company for more than five decades.

About High QA
High QA is a manufacturing quality platform that connects design requirements to execution. We make the 2D drawing or 3D model the single source of truth by automatically extracting quality requirements and linking them directly to inspection planning, inspection execution,
NCRs, and quality reporting. This reduces manual interpretation and re-entry across teams and systems, improves traceability, and helps ensure parts are built and verified to spec.
